The TSA mask mandate requiring passengers to wear a qualifying face mask during commercial travel originally went into effect on February 1, 2021 with an original expiration date of May 11, 2021.
However, authorities issued the first extension through September 13, 2021. As the Delta variant continues to spread across the United States, the mask mandate now tentatively expires on January 18, 2022.
The TSA announced the most recent extension on August 17, 2021. If the health situation doesn’t improve, it’s likely the mask mandate will extend further into 2022.
