Village Shuttle History

1980 Shuttle
The Village Shuttle started in 1979. Jack Schuss, the Mayor at the time, struck a deal with the Snowmass Land Company to gift five vans to the Town, creating the first local shuttle system. Hunt Walker served as Director of Transportation, aided by George Krawzoff and David Peckler.

During the inaugural season in 1979/80, the Village Shuttle carried roughly 36,000 passengers.
The Transportation Department as we know it today was formed in 2000. And, over just a few decades, the shuttle system have gone from a modest service to a sophisticated public transportation system that serves seven different routes along Snowmass Village's 39 road miles, and carries a half million passengers each year.
