On Thursday, March 25th, the Town launched a new and improved www.villageshuttle.com.
In addition to a fresh new look, the website is designed with users on-the-go in mind. The site was created to be extremely compatible with mobile devices to make it easier for commuters, guests, and all residents to get on the Village Shuttle.
On the homepage, users will immediately notice a new "Plan My Trip" tool. The widget allows for individuals to enter their beginning and ending address, and find the next available bus and bus stop location closest to them. This is ideal for users that are looking to catch a ride immediately, but it also works well for individuals who plan ahead.
Using the same Plan My Trip tool on the webpage, a user can also adjust the timeframe to set their preferred arrival time. The arrival date can be set for 3 hours, 3 days, or even 3 months into the future. The trip planner will show all available transit options, including any RFTA busses.
For regular riders, Village Shuttle routes and schedules are also available on the Transit App. This makes it even easier to catch a ride, anytime, anywhere.
Although the mobile-friendly tools are plentiful on the new site, the Town also didn't cut any corners when it comes to detailed information. Villageshuttle.com also boasts a wealth of web maps, parking information, ADA / accessibility details, instructions to connect to regional services like RFTA and Colorado Mountain Express, and additional "how to guides" for passengers on the Village Shuttle.
The goal of all of this effort was to get more people on the bus, but the site also incorporates features to encourage riders to visit some of Snowmass Village's most popular attractions and destinations. New on the Village Shuttle site is a list of common destinations with links to additional information. The Snowmass Ski Area, Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Lost Forest, Snowmass Village Recreation Center, and more destinations are all connected to the new page. The project team indicated this was a direct result of their efforts to make the rider experience in Snowmass Village as seamless as possible. "Using the Village Shuttle isn't just a mode of transportation. It is part of the Snowmass Village experience," said David Peckler, Transportation Director.
The Village Shuttle remains a fare-free service through the Village, with seven regular routes during the winter season, ande carries over a half million passengers each year. The new site launched just before the end of the ski season for the project team to get feedback during the peak Village Shuttle rider season. Feedback and edits will be made during the off-season, before the site goes into "summer mode."
